Norway tour from Singapore

Hello, I’m Nancie! Let me tell you all about my unforgettable Norway tour from Singapore. I and my childhood friend Doreen planned this tour years ago. Finally, we were able to succeed in march 2025. In this tour of ours, we combined Norway with Finnish Lapland. It was a 10 nights 11 days tour that covered Oslo, Flåm, Bergen, Tromsø, Kiruna, Rovaniemi and Helsinki.

It was a mix of private and group tours; our transfers from the airport or outstation were on a private basis, whereas tours like the northern lights, whale watching cruise, or Santa claus village were on a sharing basis.

Why we decided to visit Norway

As i said Doreen is my childhood friend, and we have been traveling together for years. When we started our careers, we decided to get on a Europe tour one day together. At that time, we were not sure about the country. But in recent years we heard a lot about the beauty of Norway and the amazes of northern lights. So in 2023, we decided to plan Norway during the time when we will be able to see the northern lights.

Here is what attracted us to choose Norway

  • Northern lights
  • Fjords
  • Flam- An mamazing natural beauty during Flam Journey
  • Colorful hotels in Bergen—We really wanted to get ourself clicked
  • We wanted to visit Santa claus Village (Although got to know later that it is in Finland)
  • Winter Snow activities

Our Planning stage of Norway tour from Singapore

Being from Singapore, the first task for us was to look for the flights. And for flights, it was important for us to know the itinerary so we came to know the arrival and departure destinations in Europe. We started looking for itineraries online. Trust me, the more you check different websites online, the more you get confused about it. Every website usually prepares it in a different way and if you are not very aware of the destination, it is very difficult to find the best fit.

This happened to us; we actually researched for 10-15 days and were not able to decide the best fit for us. Fortunately, Doreen landed on norwaytour.eu and contacted them via email. We got the reply back within a few hours. It was shane who was assigned to us for our tour. We got connected to him on whatsapp chat and immediately created a group. I will also mention in our review of norwaytour.eu and would like to mention here also that Shane was so patient and polite with us that it became so much more comfortable for us to ask questions and clear our doubts.

I would also like to mention a few important questions we had in our minds that would help an unaware traveler to plan their Norway tour, be it from any country:

Our Q&A discussion with norwaytour.eu executive

How many days are enough for a Norway tour that includes Oslo, Bergen and Tromsø?

As per Shane from norwaytoour.eu, we at least require 8-10 days to cover Oslo, Bergen and Tromso in Norway.

We asked him, to which city should we book our flights from Singapore so we get good deals on flights and it makes a perfect itinerary as per our requirements?

As per Shane, if we want to visit Oslo, Bergen and Tromsø, it is better to book a flight to Oslo so we can get a better deal for flights. For return flights, it should be either from Oslo only, or if we are traveling to Finland, departing from Helsinki may also give a better deal.

We asked shane, what is the best time to visit Norway for better chances of northern lights occurrence?

Shane said, Northern lights season in Tromsø usually starts from November till the end of March. If we travel during this time, we may get more chances of witnessing northern lights.

Doreen Asked, we also want to see Santa claus village, is it possible with the Norway tour?

Shane replied, Yes, of course it is possible, but we need to add at least 3-4 more days to combine Rovaniemi and do Santa claus village tour with Norway. He told us there are 2 ways we can combine Tromso and Rovaniemi in an itinerary. Either we fly from Tromso to Rovaniemi or we can choose a road Journey with a halt in Kiruna(Sweden) for 1 day. Well, that was game-changing information for us and we chose a road journey to be able to see these scandinavian countries in depth.

Can we stay in a glass Igloo when in Finland?

He said, yes we can stay in glass igloos in Finland but it depends on the availability and usually igloo rooms get filled months before the northern lights season.

Our Norway tour itinerary

Day Date Itinerary
Day 1 19 March Arrived at Oslo airport from Singapore on Singapore Airlines, transferred from Oslo airport to hotel in the city center, and explored the day on our own.
Day 2 20 March We went to the harbor for a fjords cruise ride and returned to the hotel in the afternoon. This day we explored the nightlife and had amazing Norwegian food at Supreme Roastworks AS café.
Day 3 21 March We started the scenic train ride from Oslo to Flåm. In the evening we did a fjords cruise and stayed in Flåm this night.
Day 4 22 March This day we visited Bergen from Flåm. It was a mix of cruise, bus, and train transfers. After arriving in Bergen, we checked in to the hotel and enjoyed the nearby area on our own.
Day 5 23 March On this day we flew to Tromsø from Bergen and checked in to Scandic Grand Tromsø hotel. In the evening we went on a northern lights hunt tour by bus. We were not fortunate enough to see the northern lights in this attempt, but we enjoyed the scenic views.
Day 6 24 March After a long tour last night, we had to wake up early and wait for the whale-watching cruise. It was a nice little boat cruise and we spent almost 7 hours looking for the whales and amazing fjords around. After the tour, we were so tired that we chose to sleep.
Day 7 25 March This day we traveled to Kiruna via road from Tromsø. It was a good journey that took 7 hours through the amazing snowy roads and Sami villages. We then checked in to the Ice Hotel Kiruna, although we stayed in the warm rooms. In the evening it was again time to attempt another northern lights tour, and this time we succeeded in witnessing the northern lights. It was a mind-blowing feeling, and maybe I am not capable enough to express that in words so I will move forward with the itinerary.
Day 8 26 March We headed towards Rovaniemi, the land of Santa Claus. It took us around 6 hours to reach. We checked in to the hotel and at night we had a northern lights tour by snowmobile. An amazing experience, better than anything else. We explored the snowy fields for 2 hours on snowmobile. For some time I felt like I was living a Sami life in Scandinavia — a thrilling experience it was.
Day 9 27 March We went to Santa Claus Village, which was 15 minutes from our hotel. We met Santa, crossed the Arctic Circle, did a husky sledge ride, and had an amazing lunch in Santa Claus Village. It was a great experience. After Santa Claus Village, we went to Apukka Resort for a lakeside sauna. For those 90 minutes, we were relaxing and remembering our last 9 days of fun, enjoyment, and memories.
Day 10 28 March We flew to Helsinki and were dropped off at the Helsinki Central Hotel. We explored our last day in Helsinki; everything was nearby the hotel. A good experience of city, shopping, and food.
Day 11 29 March We were hoping to get a few more days, but it was the last day of vacation and we went back to Singapore on Finnair Airlines.

Overall, Doreen and I would like to thank norwaytour.eu and especially Shane for his suggestions and implementation of the itinerary in a way that made it memorable for us. Initially we were a bit hesitant about booking with the company because of the cross-country transaction involved. But now, if i would have to rate norwaytour.eu i will give 10 out of 10.
